“Homes We Love”

Designer Victoria Hagan and architect Peter Cook join forces.

It is the perfect unity of landscape, architecture and design that makes Victoria Hagan’s work so exceptional. Her clean, sophisticated designs impart a sense of place, reveal graceful details, and evoke the perfect mood.

“The architecture and the view are the first things I take note of when I enter a client’s home,” she says. “It’s where I make connections.” It is Hagan’s aptitude in making those connections, to fuse architecture and interior design, that has made her one of the most sought after and talented designers working today. She has received the industry’s top honors- Architectural Digest’s “Top 100”, New York Magazine’s “Hottest Interior Designers”, and House Beautiful’s “Next Wave of Hall of Famers”- and she continues to be an innovative force in the world of design.

In this Bridgehampton home, Hagan says, “I wanted to create a sense of fun, relaxation and being with family and friends.” The simple aesthetic that defines the home, the graphic feel to the furnishings and chromatic scheme, both ties the space to the landscape and strikes a note of harmony that flows from the relationships she creates within her design.

Working with shades of white and blue in tones ranging from “a pale blue morning sky to a deep ocean blue,” Hagan creates a space that is clean and light, but also offers moments of surprise. “One should never be predictable,” she instructs. The bedroom, with its clean whites and blues, is complemented by the classic lines and rich, chocolate brown hue of the bed’s headboard. It is both sensuous and subtle.

Designed by architect Peter Cook, Hagan has enriched the home’s open and airy feel by employing the Hampton’s natural light. “Working in the Hamptons allows you to use less artificial light. The daylight here is so clear,” she explains. Her simple and exacting window treatments allow light to flood the house and evoke the feeling of a perfect Hamptons summer day.

“It is wonderful to have a great, fun client to work with,” she says, “and this home was a fantastic collaboration.”
